Makoto Hasebe is a Japanese international football player who currently features for the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. He plays as a midfielder.
Makoto Hasebe commenced his professional club football career in his native Japan in 2002 when he joined one of the country’s most famous clubs Urawa Red Diamonds. In 2004 he was honoured with the J. League Cup New Hero Award.
Hasebe won the J. League with Urawa in 2006 and the AFC Champions League in 2007. He also won the Emperor’s Cup in 2005 and 2006 and Japanese Super Cup in 2006.
Makoto Hasebe was signed by VfL Wolfsburg in 2008 and became the first Japanese player to play in the German Bundesliga.
Makoto Hasebe made his international debut for Japan in 2008 and has featured in 15 international matches for his nation so far.
