Mario Gomez Garcia is a German football player of German-Spanish origin who currently features for the German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. He plays as a striker and is said to be one of the best strikers in the Bundesliga.
Mario Gomez developed at the youth academy of German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart and made his first team debut against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League in March 2004. A couple of months later he made his debut in the German Bundesliga.
Gomez featured for the Stuttgart B side in the 2004-2005 season and featured 8 times in Stuttgart's first team in the Bundesliga. He was drafted into the first team on a permanent basis in the 2005-2006 season.
Mario Gomez soon established himself as one of the best young strikers in the German Bundesliga and was named the German Footballer Of The Year in 2007. The German striker second topscored in the Bundesliga in the 2007-2008 season as he hit 19 goals in 25 appearances in the league. He was signed by Bayern Munich in the summer of 2009 for 30 million euros, a record transfer fee in the Bundesliga.
Mario Gomez made his international debut for Germany on February 7,2007 against Switzerland and played for his nation at Euro 2008.
