Martin Gaston Demichelis is an Argentina international football player who currently features for the Spanish club Malaga. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder.
Demichelis commenced his professional club football career at Argentine powerhouse River Plate in 1998 but it was only in 2001 that he managed to get a place in the starting xi. He played for them for two seasons and won the Clausura championships in 2002 and 2003.
Demichelis was signed by Bayern Munich in 2003 and it was at the Allianz Arena that the Argentine became a strong and brilliant defender. His start to his Bundesliga career was stifled by injuries but Demichelis grew out of it. He played crucial roles in Bayern’s double winning seasons of 2005 and 2006 and became a formidable presence at the heart of the Bayern backline.

Demichelis went on to win the Bundesliga with Bayern again in 2008 and 2010 and also reached the final of the Champions League with the Bavarian giants in 2010. He won the DFB-Pokal four times – in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010.
In 2011 Demichelis joined Malaga and has established himself as a first-team regular for the Spanish outfit, helping them finish in the top four in La Liga in 2011-12.
Demichelis made his international debut for Argentina in 2005 and has featured in 35 international matches for his nation since then.
