Manuel Almunia is a Spanish football player who plays for the English Premier League club Arsenal. He features as a goalkeeper.
Almunia commenced his professional career at Osasuna and after playing for the B team from 1997 to 1999, joined the first team. In 2000 he moved to Sabadell and after a stint with Celta Vigo, he caught the attention of Arsenal and joined the London giants in 2004.
Almunia’s big chance to impress in an Arsenal shirt came two years later in the final of the Champions League when he replaced Robert Pires after just 18 minutes following Jens Lehmann’ sending off. The Spaniard also featured in the League Cup final in 2007.
