Sergio Daniel Orteman Rodriguez is a professional footballer from Uruguay and plays as a midfielder. In 1997, he began his professional playing career at Central Espanol where he just managed to earn 14 appearances in his two seasons. In 2001, he decided to move to Olimpia in Paraguay where he won the 2002 Copa Libertadores title with the club and was also voted as the player of the tournament.
The following year, he also won the 2003 Recopa Sudamericana title with Olimpia. In 4 seasons with the club, Orteman played over 60 games for the club and score 12 goals.
This was followed by a move to Argentina and to Independiente in 2004. However after having injury trouble almost through the year, he only managed 18 appearances which came mostly as a substitute. He was sent to FC Atlas AC on loan to gain experience and 15 games later, Orteman was back from the Mexican Club to play another 17 games at Independiente, scoring 3 goals.
In 2007, Orteman moved to Boca Juniors who won the Copa Libertadores that year although Orteman was only part of the team for just a few minutes only. He moved to Turkey later that year to play for Istanbul B. B. where he shone with 4 goals in just 20 games. He was quite influential for the Turkish side and that warranted a move to Racing Santander in Spain.
In 2008, after the end of the Spanish season, Orteman moved to Spain to play with Gremio.
