Fabio Santos Romeu is a professional footballer who primarily plays as a wingback on the left side on account of favouring his left foot. As a youth team player, Santos began playing at Sao Paolo and in 2003, he worked his way up through the ranks and reached the first team squad.
Santos was barely used in his three years at Sao Paolo and most of his time was spent on the bench or on the reserve line up although he was part of the squad for the league and other tournaments. This brought him the winners’ medal in the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2005.
The same year, Santos was also picked for the Brazilian under-20 squad.

The following year, Sao Paolo decided to send him out on loan to Kashima Antlers to gain a bit more experience and playing time. Santos scored three times in his 20 games with the Antlers and the following year, returned to Brazil only to go back on a loan spell, this time to Cruzeiro.
Santos struggled to get into the first team and was sent back within a few months. Sao Paolo still felt the need to send him out on loan and AS Monaco were the destination this time ‘round. In August 2008, Santos returned to Sao Paolo after failing to create any waves. Santos was his next loan destination as Sao Paolo desperately tried to get him to gain some vital experience however, things didn’t work out and by the end of the year, Santos was back in Sao Paolo.
In 2009, Sao Paolo decided to transfer Santos and Gremio will be his home for the next season.
