A football striker, Frederico Chaves Guedes began playing professional football in 2002 with America FC. He remained with the club till 2004, and scored an impressive 34 goals in over 55 appearances with the first team. While playing for the club, Guedes also scored the fastest goals in the history of Brazilian football, during the Copa Soa Paulo de Juniores, against Vila Nova FC. Guedes scored the goal just 3.17 seconds after the match began.
In 2004, Guedes spent a season with Cruzeiro EC, during which time he amassed 56 goals in just 71 appearances with the first team. After this successful stint with Cruzeiro, Guedes moved onto Lyon, where he remained till 2009, scoring 34 goals in a total of 81 games. The French club released him in 2009, when he joined his current club, Fluminense FC.
Apart from this, Guedes has also played for his country, and made his debut with the Brazilian national team in April, 2005. He scored his first goal the same year, against UAE, and in all scored 5 goals that season. Guedes was named striker for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and scored his first World Cup goal against Australia in June, 2006.
Some of his other honors include the Ligue 1 title three times and the Coupe de France in 2008.
