A football midfielder, Ibson Barreto da Silva, began playing football in the youth division of Club de Regatas do Flamengo, the club he is currently on loan to, in 2002. He turned pro with the same club in 2003, and after over 50 appearances and 11 goals, Ibson left the club to join FC Porto in 2005. After 50 appearances with the first team, and 2 goals, Ibson was loaned out to Flamengo in 2007, where he has so far made 75 appearances and scored 21 times.
Some of his title wins with Flamengo include the Taca Guanabara and the Rio State League title, both in 2004 and 2008, whereas with FC Porto, Ibson bagged the Portuguese championship in the 2005-06 as well as 2006-07 seasons. He also won the Portuguese Cup in the 2005-06 season, and the SuperCup Candido de Oliveira in the 2006-07 season.
