Alex Song is a Cameroon international football player who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Barcelona. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a central midfielder or as a central defender.
Song joined the youth team of the French side Bastia in 2003-2004 and was a regular member of the club’s first team in the 2004-2005 season and made 34 appearances. He was loaned to Arsenal for the 2005-2006 season and at the end of his loan period, he was signed by the London club for 1 million pounds on a four-year contract.
Song made his Premier League debut during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton in September 2005 as a substitute and played in several league and UEFA Champions League matches in the 2005-2006 season.

Song was signed by Charlton Athletic in January 2007 for until the end of the 2006-2007 season and was recalled to the Emirates after an impressive season at the Valley. He continued to be an important part of the Arsenal first team and made 138 league appearances for the Gunners before joining Barcelona in the summer of 2012 for £15 million. He won La Liga with the Blaugrana in his first year in Spain.
Song was named in the Cameroonian squad for the 2008 African Cup of Nations although he was yet to be capped at the time. He has played in over 35 international matches for his country.
