Johan Djourou is a Switzerland international football player who currently features for the English and European giants Arsenal. He plays as a central defender.
Djourou was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, to Ivorian parents and was later adopted by his father’s first wife Daniele, a Swiss woman. They moved to Geneva in Switzerland when he was 17 months old and grew up there.
He joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2002 and made his first team debut in 2004. He played for Birmingham City on loan for the 2007-08 season and on his return has been with the Gunners since. However, he is essentially seen as a squad member and does not play regularly for the first team.
