Eduardo Alves da Silva, better known simply as Eduardo, is a Brazilian born Croatian international footballer who currently features for the Premiership giants Arsenal. He is a striker.
Eduardo grew up in the Rio de Janeiro neighbourhood of Bangu and made his start in football with clubs CBF Nova Kennedy and Bangu Atletico Clube but he did not play for them in their youth categories. He joined Dinamo Zagreb in September 1999 in their youth team and made his first team debut with the Croatian club in the 2001-2002 season.
He played for the club until the end of the 2006-2007 season and scored phenomenal 73 goals in 111 league matches for Dinamo Zagreb. He was signed by Arsenal in the summer of 2007 for 8.5 million pounds but he couldn’t manage to play regularly in the first team in the 2007-2008 season.
Eduardo suffered a compound fracture on his left fibula and a dislocated ankle from a foul by Martin Taylor in Arsenal’s match against Birmingham in late February 2008. He missed the Euro 2008 campaign for Croatia because of that injury. Eduardo made his international debut for Croatia in 2004 and has played 22 matches and scored 13 goals.
