Reto Ziegler is a Swiss international football player who currently features for the Italian Serie A club Sampdoria. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a left sided midfielder or a defender.
Reto Ziegler commenced his professional club football career at Swiss giants Grasshoppers-Club Zurich in 2002 and played for them for two seasons, featuring in 41 league matches. In the summer of 2004 he was signed by Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and was officially on the books of the north London club until 2007, but failed to gel there, scoring only one goal in 24 league matches.
During his time at White Hart Lane, Ziegler played on loan first at German Bundesliga club Hamburg for the 2005-2006 season, then at Wigan Athletic and then at Sampdoria in 2007. He made his Italian Serie A debut for Sampdoria against Parma on February 18,2007.

He was then signed on a permanent deal by Sampdoria in the summer of 2007 and is now considered a very important part of the first team.
Reto Ziegler made his international debut for Switzerland against France on March 26, 2005 in a 2006 World Cup qualifier and featured at the 2006 Germany World Cup finals and Euro 2008.
