Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira, most popularly known simply as Pepe, is a Brazil-born Portugal international footballer who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Real Madrid. He plays as a central defender and is rated as one of the best in his world in his position.
Pepe actually started his playing career with Brazilian side Maritimo and made his professional debut in the 2001-2002 season. He lingered on at Maritimo until 2004 when he was signed by Portuguese giants FC Porto and threaded his way into the first season from second season onwards.
At Porto Pepe developed into a world class and highly reliable central defender, winning the Portuguese Primeira Liga title in 2006 and 2007 and the Intercontinental Cup in 2004.

In the summer of 2007 Madrid signed him from Porto for €30 million. Pepe suffered with injuries at the start of his career in Spain but reached out and is now firmly established at the heart of the Madrid defence.
Pepe has played over 115 matches for Los Blancos in La Liga and was crucial in their triumph in La Liga in 2007-08 and 2011-12. He also won the Copa del Rey with Madrid in 2010-11 and the Spanish Supercopa in 2008 and 2012.
Pepe has been a Portuguese citizen since August 2007 and has so far represented Portugal in over 50 international matches. He played for Portugal at Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup finals and Euro 2012, and was part of the official UEFA Euro Team of the Tournament in 2008 and 2010.
