Massimo Maccarone is an Italian football player who currently features for the Italian Serie A club AC Siena. He plays as a striker and developed at the Italian and European giants AC Milan and has played in the Premier League in England. In March 2002 he became the first Italian Serie B player in 20 years to be picked for the Italian national side.

Massimo Maccarone developed at the youth academy of AC Milan and was loaned to Italian side Modena in 1998. In 1999 he was transferred to Italian Serie A club Prato and scored 24 goals in 49 matches for them.

In 2000 Maccarone signed for Empoli and helped them gain promotion to the Serie A during the 2001-2002 season. In July 2002 he was signed by Premier League club Middlesbrough for 12.7 million euros. He started out brillianly for Middlesbrough but his early good form petered out and he was loaned out to Italian club Parm during the 2004-2005 season. In January 2005 he was sent on loan to Siena.

Massimo Maccarone returned to Middlesbrough for the 2005-2006 season and played well for the Premier League side in the UEFA Cup in 2006. He was signed by Siena in January 2007 on a free transfer on a contract that originally runs until 2010.

He made his Italian Serie A debut for Siena on his return to the club against Cagliari on February 11,2007. He scored his first goals for Siena against AC Milan on February 17.

Massimo Moccarona made his international debut for Italy in 2002 and has played one more international match for his nation.
