Jean-Pierre Papin is a former professional football player from France. He also served as a team manager for a number of teams. In 1991, he was awarded the Onze d’Or and the Ballon d’Or while playing for Marseille. In the same year, he was awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year Silver award.

Jean-Pierre Roger Guillaume Papin was born on November 5, 1963 in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France. He is the son of Guy Papin. As a youth player, he signed with INF Victory and played with the team from 1983 to 1984.

Professional Career

Papin started his professional career playing for Valenciennes from 1984 to 1985. The following season, he signed with Club Brugge. In 1986, he signed with the most significant club of his career – Marseille. He played a total of 215 times.

While with Marseille, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or award in 1991. He was also given the FIFA World Player of the Year Silver award in the same year.

From 1992 to 1994, he played for AC Milan and helped them win the UEFA Champions League in the 1993–94 season. He also played for Bayern Munich and helped them win the UEFA Cup for the 1995-1996 season.

Papin also played for France alongside his professional career. In 2004, he was named to the FIFA 100 list.
