Mark van Bommel is a Netherlands international football player who currently features for the Italian and European giants AC Milan. He plays as a midfielder and is regarded as one of the best in the business.
Van Bommel made his professional club football career for Fortuna Sittard in 1992 and played for them until 1999. Thereafter, he joined PSV Eindhoven and played for the Dutch giants until 2005, featuring in 169 Eredivisie fixtures and winning the league four times.
Van Bommel joined Barcelona and played for the Catalan giants for one season, winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in 2005-06. But he moved to German powerhouse Bayern Munich and established himself as a regular defensive midfielder. He won the Bundesliga twice and reached the final of the Champions League in 2009-10.
In January 2011 Van Bommel signed for AC Milan and made a positive contribution to their first Serie A triumph since 2004.
Van Bommel made his international debut for the Netherlands in 2000 and helped his nation reach the final of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
