Nicolas Alejandro Cabrera is an Argentine professional footballer who currently plays in the top-most league in the country. Cabrera began his professional career at local hometown club, Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata, in 2003. For four seasons, he remained with the club, playing 71 games and scoring thrice from the midfield.

In 2007, Cabrera was sent off to Racing Club but facing turbulent times in his career, he failed to establish a first team place and ended up mostly as a substitute. In 2008, he moved to Newell’s Old Boys and had some wonderful performances. However, some very-public personal problems with the coach led him to leave the club and come to Velez Sarsfield for the 2008-09 season.
