Ignazio Abate is an Italy international football player who currently features for the Italian and European giants AC Milan. He plays as a right-back and is a first-choice regular for the Rossoneri.
Abate developed at the youth academy of Milan and was part of the first-team until between 2003 and 2007. However, he failed to make a single first-team appearance for them, as he played on loan at Napoli, Sampdoria, Piacenza and Modena during those years.
In 2007 Abate joined Empoli and after an impressive 2007-08 campaign in which he scored one goal in 24 league matches joined Torino.
In the summer of 2009 Milan signed Abate back from Torino for €2.55 million. He quickly became a regular and won Serie A in 2010-11.
Abate made his international debut for Italy on November 11, 2011 against Poland in a friendly international - the Azzurri won the game 2-0. He was part of the Italy squad that reached the final of Euro 2012.
