Paul David McShane is a Republic of Ireland football player who is on the books of the English Premier League club Sunderland. He plays as a defender and is currently on loan to Hull City.

Paul McShane made his professional club football start for Premiership and European giants Manchester. He was a Man United played for them between 2004 and 2006 but could not play a single league match for then, instead playing on loan for Walsall and then Brighton & Hove Albion.

McShane then played the 2006-2007 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion and was a regular at the Hawthornes, scoring 2 goals in 32 league fixtures. In the summer of 2007 Sunderland signed McShane for 1.5 million pounds and he played 21 league matches for the Black Cats in the promotion winning 2007-2008 season.

Paul McShane has been signed on loan by Premier League side Hull City for the 2008-2009 season.

Paul McShane made his international debut for Republic of Ireland against the Czech Republic on October 11,2006 in a match that ended 1-1 and in which he was named the man of the match. He has played 11 international matches for his nation since.
