Glenn Whelan is a Republic of Ireland international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Stoke City. He play as a midfielder.

Glenn Whelan started his professional club career at Eastlands club Manchester City but failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the club.

His only first team appearance for Man City was against Total Network Solutions in August 2003 in the UEFA Cup. He played on loan at Bury from 2003 to 2004.

Glenn Whelan was then signed by Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer in the 2004 summer. He went onto establish himself at Sheffield and played outside the top flight. He scored 12 goals in 142 league matches for Sheffield and was a regular for Sheffield Wednesday.

In January 2008 Glenn Whelan was signed by Stoke City for 500,000 pounds on a three and a half year contract. Whelan has progressed to be a regular for Stoke.

Glenn Whelan made his international debut for republic of Ireland in 2008 and has played four matches for his nation so far and has scored one goal.
