Richard Paul Wesley Cresswell is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Stoke City and plays as a centre-forward.
Richard Cresswell started his professional club career at York City in 1995 and played for them for four years, scoring 21 goals in 95 league matches. He was signed by the then Premier League club Sheffield Wednesday in 1999 for 950,000 pounds and played for them for one season, scoring 2 goals in 31 Premier League matches.
At the end of the season he was by Leicester City and after a loan period at Preston North End was signed by the latter in 2001. He played for Preston for four years after that and scored 46 goals in 176 impressive league matches and was a regular for the club.

Cresswell’s superb display for Preston earned him a move to Leeds United in 2005 and he played for them for two season, scoring 9 times in 38 league matches. He moved on, however, to Stoke City in 2007 on a three year deal and helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League for the 2008-2009 season, scoring 11 goals in 42 league matches in 2007-2008.
