Kevin Davies started his professional club career at Chesterfield in 1993 and played for them for four years, scoring 22 goals in 129 league matches. He reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 1997 with Chesterfield.
Southampton signed Kevin Davies in 1997 and played for the Saints for one season, scoring 9 goals in 25 league matches. He was signed by Blackburn Rovers in 1998 for 7.5 million pounds and in two seasons could manage just one goal in 24 league matches.
Southampton re-signed him in 2000 and Kevin Davies now stayed with them for three seasons, scoring 10 times in 82 league fixtures.
In the summer of 2003 Kevin Davies was released by Southampton and he was promptly picked up by ambitious Bolton Wanderers and scored 10 goals and started every league game in the 2003-2004 season.
Kevin Davies soon endeared himself to the Bolton supporters and then became the club’s vice-captain. He has since played over 150 league matches and has also played in the UEFA Cup for Bolton Wanderers.
Kevin Davies is currently one of the five English players to have (in a single transfer) cost over 7 million pounds and have never played for their nation at the national level.
