Ryan Taylor is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League Newcastle United. He plays as right back and can also function as a winger.
Taylor made his professional club football career at Tranmere Rovers in 2002 and played for them for three seasons, scoring 15 goals in 100 league matches.
In 2005 Wigan Athletic signed Taylor on a four-year contract for a undisclosed transfer fee. Taylor scored his first goal for Wigan against Newcastle United in February 25, 2007.
Taylor was troubled by injuries while at Wigan and this has stopped him from completely exploring his talent and potential. He broke his fifth metatarsal in a FA Cup match in 2006 but recovered soon. However, in 2009 he was let go by the Latics after six goals in 56 league matches, allowing him to join Newcastle.
At Newcastle Taylor started to showcase his potential and promise, and also rediscovered his form, helping the Magpies gain promotion to the Premier League and then making sure that they remain there.
Taylor played four times for the England Under-21 side in 2005 but he has yet to make his debut for the senior side.
