Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana was born on July 13, 2007, in Esplugues de Llobregat, Spain. The Spanish winger stands 180 cm tall.

He was born to a Moroccan father, Mounir Nasraoui, and an Equatoguinean mother, Sheila Ebana. Yamal grew up in the Rocafonda neighborhood of Mataró, a working-class community he honors by making a "304" gesture—the last digits of the local postcode—during his goal celebrations. He began his organized career at age four with the local club La Torreta before being scouted by Barcelona at age six.

Yamal is a practicing Muslim and maintains very close ties to his family. His parents separated when he was three, but both remained deeply involved in his upbringing. In 2024, his father survived a stabbing incident in Mataró, which drew significant public support for the player.

Outside of football, he has become a massive commercial icon, leading global shirt sales in 2025.

Career

Yamal’s career began at La Torreta before he joined Barcelona’s famed La Masia Academy in 2014. He shattered records early, making his first-team debut on April 29, 2023, at just 15 years old. Shortly after, he became the youngest goalscorer in La Liga history and established himself as a permanent fixture in the squad during the 2023–24 season.

In the summer of 2024, Yamal reached global superstardom during UEFA Euro 2024. At age 16, he became the youngest player to appear and score in the tournament's history, eventually helping Spain win the title and being named the Young Player of the Tournament. His performances earned him the 2024 Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy award.
