Club Career
Copenhagen-born Højlund spent time with Brondby and FC Copenhagen in his junior career, debuting for the latter at first-team level in 2020 as a 17-year-old. He scored five goals in European competition for Copenhagen in the 2021-22 season, and helped his side win the Danish Superliga, before signing with Austrian club Sturm Graz in January 2022 for a reported 1.8 million euros.
In Austria, Hojlund made a strong impact as a forward, netting six goals in 13 league games in the second half of the 2021-22 season, prompting interest from bigger clubs. He netted six goals early in the 2022-23 season before Italian club Atalanta swooped to sign him for 17 million euros in August 2022. He linked up with compatriot Joakim Maehle at Atalanta.

In Italy, Hojlund made a quick impact by scoring his first goal for his new club in September 2022, only weeks after joining Atalanta. He emerged at Atalanta and usurped Duvan Zapata and netted four goals in four successive games, finishing the 2022-23 campaign with 10 goals in 34 games in all competitions.
In August 2023, Manchester United signed Hojlund for 64 million pounds plus eight million pounds in add-ons on a five-year deal with the option of a further season. He found form in January and February 2024, netting five goals in six games.
International Career
Hojlund made his international debut for Denmark in 2022 in the UEFA Nations League. He wasn’t named in Denmark’s 2022 World Cup squad.
