David Raya Martin is a soccer player playing for Arsenal and Spain. He is a Spanish goalkeeper.
Club Career
Raya was born in Barcelona but left Spain for English club Blackburn Rovers in 2012 as a teenager on a scholarship where he spent two years in the youth system, before debuting at first-team level in late 2014-15, following a good loan spell with Southport.
Raya, however, was Blackburn’s second-choice goalkeeper behind Jason Steele so struggled for regular football, before taking over as number one in both 2017-18 and 2018-19 where he made 47 and 46 appearances respectively.

In mid 2019, Championship club Brentford signed Raya on a four-year deal. He immediately impressed and was nominated for numerous awards. He was a joint winner of the EFL Golden Glove after 16 clean sheets.
Raya helped Brentford to promotion, impressing in the playoff final, in the 2020-21 season. Raya impressed in two Premier League campaigns for the Bees before Arsenal moved to sign him.
Raya joined the Gunners on a season-long loan in August 2023 and quickly established himself as their first choice ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.
International Career
Raya didn’t play once for Spain at any under-age level. He went on to make his international debut for Spain in 2022 as a 26-year-old against Albania.
Raya was part of Spain’s 2022 World Cup squad.
