David James Wheater is a young English football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Middlesbrough. He is a central defender and although he is still 21 years of age he is a regular.
David Wheater made his professional debut for Middlesbrough in 2004 and featured prominently as a substitute. He played on loan for Doncaster Rovers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Darlington and has been drafted into the Middlesbrough starting xi for the 2008-2009 season by Boro manager Gareth Southgate.
David Wheater scored his first goal for Middlesbrough against Fulham in May 2007. He is often compared to the Manchester United centre-back Nemanja Vidic and possesses a knack to score from set-pieces.
