Florian Wirtz is a soccer player playing for Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He is a German attacking midfielder/left winger.
Club Career
Wirtz was born in Pulheim in Germany’s west. He joined FC Koln in 2010 and spent a decade with the club in their youth system. In 2020, he moved up the Rhine River to join Leverkusen.
At Leverkusen, Wirtz quickly progressed to make his first-team debut having impressed in the under-17 side. Wirtz debuted on May 2020 against Werder Bremen, becoming the club’s youngest player in the Bundesliga at 17 years and 15 days. Wirtz became the youngest goal scorer in Bundesliga history in June 2020, netting against Bayern Munich at the age of 17 years and 34 days.

Wirtz established himself as a key player for Leverkusen in 2020-21, netting eight goals in 38 games in all competitions, backing that up with 10 goals in 2021-22.
But in March 2022, Wirtz tore his ACL and missed 10 months of action, returning in January 2023.
In the 2023-24, Wirtz was central to Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title with a career-first hat-trick helping them beat Werder Bremen 5-0 to clinch the crown.
International Career
Wirtz has been capped at Germany under-age level from Under-15s to Under-21, before making his senior debut in 2021. He missed the 2022 World Cup due to an ACL injury.
In March 2024, Wirtz scored the second fastest goal in international football history, netting in seven seconds against France.
