Mohamed Naser Elsayed Elneny or Mohamed Elneny is a professional footballer who is currently playing for Arsenal under the Premier League and the Egyptian National Team as a midfielder.
Elneny started playing football at a young age. He initially played with the Al Ahly club as a youth member before transferring to the Al Mokawloon club at the age of 16. In January of 2013, he was invited to join FC Basel’s training camp and by the end of the month, he signed a 6-month loan contract. He made his official debut with Basel during the Swiss Super League Season. While with Basel, Elneny experienced winning the championship title of the Swiss Super League and reaching the semifinals during the UEFA Europa League. By 2013, Basel decided to give Elneny a permanent 4-year contract. During these 4 years, Basel had won several championships.
In 2016, Elneny was transferred to Arsenal over an estimated 5 million Euro fee. He then made his debut with the club during the FA Cup with a 2-1 win against Burnley. He is the first Egyptian to play for Arsenal. In 2019, he was loaned to Besiktas for one season. By 2020, he made his first and only goal for Besiktas when they defeated the Genclerbirligi club. In the last week of August, he returned to Arsenal and became one of the starting players for the 2020 FA Community Shield. After returning to Arsenal, he made another goal during the Europa League, which was considered as a runner-up in the Goal of the Season. He also scored another goal during the 2021 Premier League and the Olympiacos.
In addition to playing for Arsenal and other clubs, Eleny also has an international football career. He was part of the team that represented his country in the 2012 Olympics. He was also part of the Egypt National First Team that played in the 2017 Africa Cup Nations as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup
