Joao Alves de Assis Silva, commonly known as Jo, is a young Brazilian international football international who currently features for the English Premier League club Manchester City. He is a striker and is a promising one too.
Jo started his professional club career at Brazilian powerhouse Corinthians in 2003. After playing for them for two seasons and scoring 13 goals in 85 appearances, he moved to CSKA Moscow in Russia and was a prolific player as he scored 30 goals in 53 league matches. He scored two goals in matches against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League in the 2007-2008 season.
In the summer of July 2008, Manchester City signed Jo for club record (undisclosed) fee reported to be around 20 million pounds.

Jo made his international debut for Brazil in June 2007 in a friendly match against Turkey and has played 3 matches for his nation, scoring 1 goal. He played for Brazil at the 2008 Olympic Games.
