Takuma Asano is a soccer player playing for Japan and VfL Bochum. He is a winger/forward.
Asano emerged with Sanfrecce Hiroshima in his homeland, scoring 18 goals in all competitions in 2015, prompting Arsenal to move to sign but he was refused a work permit to play in the Premier League and the deal never materialised.
Asano was loaned to German club VfB Stuttgart a month later in 2016 but struggled for impact across two seasons, scoring five goals in 45 appearances. He moved again on loan to another German club, this time Hannover 96, where he scored once in 15 games in 2018-19.

He signed permanently with Partizan Belgrade in 2019, impressing in the 2020-21 season with 21 goals, leading to Bochum signing him in 2021 as a free agent.
Asano debuted for Japan in 2015, but missed the 2018 World Cup squad. He scored against Australia to secure 2022 World Cup qualification, before netting in Japan’s World Cup opener against Germany, a 2-1 win.
