Lucas Pezzini Leiva is a Brazil international football player who currently features for the English and European giants Liverpool. He is a defensive midfielder.
Lucas made his professional start for Gremio in Brazil in 2005 and played 38 league matches for them in two years, scoring 5 goals. He became the youngest ever player to receive the Placar magazine’s Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball) given to the best player in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Lucas was signed by Liverpool in the summer of 2007 for 9 million euros. He had a reasonably decent first season at Anfield, playing 18 league matches and scoring one goals. He has since become an important player for Liverpool, although there are detractors of his game.
