Roberto Carlos is a former professional football player and manager. He is perhaps best known for his career with Real Madrid, where he made 370 appearances and scored 47 goals. In 2004, Pele included Carlos in his and FIFA’s list of the Top 125 World’s Best Living Football Players. In 2002 and 2003, he was named UEFA Club Defender of the Year.

Player Profile, Personal Life, and Youth Career

Roberto Carlos da Silva Roch was born in Garça, São Paulo, Brazil on April 10, 1973. He became a naturalized Spanish citizen in 2005, which made him a European Union citizen. He has 11 kids with seven women. In October 2017, he became a grandfather.

From 1988 to 1991, he played for Uniao Sao Joao’s youth team.

Professional Career

He started his senior career playing for Uniao then in 1992, he was signed by Palmeiras. In 1995, he moved to play for Inter Milan for a season before he was signed by Real Madrid. While with Real, he would go on to be instrumental in helping them win a number of titles including four La Liga, three UEFA Champions League, and two Intercontinental Cups. They also won the UEFA Super Cup in 2002.

His career at Real spanned from 1996 to 2007. He made a total of 370 appearances for the club. In 2007, he signed with Fenerbahce. They won the Turkish Cup in 2007 and 2009. From 2010 to 2016, he played for Corinthians, Anzhi Makhachkala, and the Delhi Dynamos.

Concurrent with his club career, Carlos also played for the Brazil National Team. In 2002, he was instrumental in helping the country win the FIFA World Cup.

In 2012, while a player at Anzhi, he also served as their coach. He would also coach the Dynamos in 2015 while still a player.
