Ederson Santana de Moraes, simply known as Ederson, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Süper Lig club Fenerbahçe and the Brazil National Team.

Ederson was born on August 17, 1993, in Osasco, Brazil. The Brazilian goalkeeper stands 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in) tall. He acquired Portuguese citizenship in 2016 during his time in the Primeira Liga.

Ederson is easily recognizable by his extensive tattoo collection, which includes a rose and skull on his neck, angel wings on his back, and a depiction of the Portuguese League trophy on his leg. He also bears a tattoo reading "I Belong to Jesus," reflecting his Christian faith.

Career

Ederson began his senior career in Portugal with Ribeirão before moving to Rio Ave, where he finished as a runner-up in both the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga in 2014.

His impressive performances secured a return to Benfica in 2015. There, he quickly established himself, helping the club win two consecutive Primeira Liga titles (2015–16, 2016–17) along with the Taça de Portugal and Taça da Liga, earning the LPFP Primeira Liga Goalkeeper of the Year award for the 2016–17 season.

In 2017, Ederson joined Manchester City for £35 million, becoming the most expensive goalkeeper in history at the time in pound sterling. He became a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola's dominant era, making 372 appearances and winning 18 major honours.

His trophy haul at City includes six Premier League titles, four EFL Cups, and two FA Cups. Individually, his dominance in the English top flight was highlighted by winning the Premier League Golden Glove three consecutive times between 2020 and 2022.

The pinnacle of his time in Manchester came during the 2022–23 season, where he anchored the defense as City won a historic continental treble, securing the Premier League, FA Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League title. Following this triumph, he helped the club win the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2023. His world-class status was cemented that year when he was named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper and the IFFHS World's Best Goalkeeper.

After a legendary eight-year stint in England, Ederson moved to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in 2025, where he immediately added to his collection by winning the Turkish Super Cup. Internationally, Ederson made his senior debut for Brazil in 2017. He was part of the squads for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and won the Copa América in 2019, also finishing as a runner-up in the 2021 edition.
