Manuel Akanji is a soccer player playing for Manchester City.
He is a Swiss defender, who joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on deadline day in September 2022.
He came through at youth level with Winterthur in his native Switzerland, joining FC Basel in 2015 where he won two league titles across two-and-a-half seasons before signing with Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 for 18 million euros. Akanji had a mixed time at Dortmund, before joining City in 2022.
Akanji made his national debut for Switzerland in 2017, included in their 2018 World Cup and Euro 2020 squads.
