Martin Ødegaard is a soccer player playing for Arsenal. He is a Norwegian attacking midfielder.
Club Career
The highly-rated midfielder came through at Norwegian club Strømsgodset IF, making waves as a teenager, prompting a move to Real Madrid in 2015.
He was loaned out numerous times by Real, with spells at Heerenveen and Vitesse in the Netherlands. At Vitesse, he was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2018-19 but also named in the 2018-19 Eredivisie Team of the Year. He scored 11 goals in 39 appearances that term.

In 2019-20 he was loaned to fellow La Liga club Real Sociedad and impressed immediately, winning the La Liga Player of the Month for September. He became a regular, playing 36 games and scoring seven goals, while helping the side lift the Copa del Rey for the second time in history.
In 2020-21, he returned to Real Madrid but only made a handful of appearances before being was loaned to Premier League club Arsenal in January. He impressed and made the Gunners his permanent home in 2021.
Odegaard has gone from strength to strength since heading to London, winning the Premier League Player of the Month for November/December 2022.
The Norwegian was twice named the Arsenal Player of the Season in 2022-23 and 2023-24 as well as being named in the Premier League PFA Team of the Year in those two seasons. He has become Arsenal’s club captain.
International Career
He debuted for Norway as a 15-year-old in 2014 against UAE. Norway have not since qualified for any major tournaments. He has become Norway’s national team captain.
