Markel Susaeta is a Basque footballer who currently features for the Spanish football club Athletic Bilbao. He is a versatile midfielder who can play down the middle or down the right.
Susaeta commenced his career at Basque giants Athletic Bilbao in the 2007-2008 season after progressing through the youth academy. He made his debut in September 2007 in a 3-1 away defeat to FC Barcelona in La Liga and went on to make a total of 29 league matches and scored 4 goals.
Susaeta has since established himself as a key figure for Bilbao, featuring in over 200 matches for the former Spanish champions. He was instrumental in Bilbao’s run to the Europa League and Copa del Rey finals in the 2011-12 campaign.
