Jose Ignacio Fernandez Iglesias, commonly known simply as Nacho, is a Spanish football player who currently features for the Spanish and European giants Real Madrid. He plays as a central defender.
Nacho joined Real Madrid’s youth academy when he was just 11 years of age and made his debut for the reserves in the 2008-09 season in the Spanish Segunda Division He made his debut for the first team on April 23, 2011 in a 6-3 victory over Valencia at Mestalla in La Liga, playing as a left-back for the whole 90 minutes.
Nacho was part of the Madrid first team in their pre-season tour of North America ahead of the 2011-12 campaign. He was promoted to the first team for that campaign, but continued to play largely for Castilla. He was fully drafted into the first team for the 2013-14 campaign.
Nacho won La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup with Madrid in 2012 and the Spanish Segunda Division B title in 2011-12. He won the UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship with Spain in 2007 and finished runners up with his nation at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the same year.
