Jose Artur Barbosa de Oliveira is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a defender in the heart of defence. Artur began his playing career in the lower divisions of Brazil, turning out for Central-BA in 2007. He immediately caught the eye of clubs from higher divisions, moving to Vitoria da Conquista the very same year. He would stay at his new club until the end of 2008, before choosing a move to Mirassol Futebol Clube in 2008.

Mirassol would become his launch pad as his stint would come to end in 2009 with a flourish, seeing Artur move to Sao Caetano and become a solid part of the team’s back-line. From 2009, Artur has been a part of the Sao Caetano first team but he clearly had potential to come to the top division. After playing about 81 games and even scoring 15 goals, Artur was brought to Palmeiras on loan, for 2012, where he’s been a regular member of the first team. He was moved from the centre-back position to the right-back position by his coach, a place where he has flourished!

Artur’s move to a top club like Palmeiras is said to be based on the outcome of this loan move, where he’s already helped the team win the 2012 Copa do Brasil title.
