Javi Garcia is a Spain international football player who currently features for the English and European giants Manchester City. He plays as a defensive midfielder and is considered as one of the best in the world in his position.
Garcia developed at Real Madrid’s youth academy and played for the B team between 2004 and 2007, although he made his debut for the senior team at just 17 years of age in a 5-0 home victory over Levante on November 28, 2004.
Garcia joined Osasuna in 2007 and was impressive for the Pamplona in the 2007-08 campaign, scoring two goals in 25 La Liga appearances. In 2008 Real Madrid resigned but he failed to make more than 15 appearances in the league and joined Benfica after one year.
At Benfica Garcia rediscovered his form and established himself as one of the best anchoring midfielder in Europe. The Spaniard won the Portuguese League with the Lisbon giants in 2009-10 and the Portuguese League Cup in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
In the summer of 2012, after scoring six goals in 73 league matches, Garcia joined Manchester City, with Benfica being paid £15.8 million as the transfer fee.
Garcia made his international debut for Spain against Serbia on May 26, 2012 in a friendly international that La Furia Roja won 2-0.
