Richard Wright is an English football player who currently features for the English and European giants Manchester City. He plays as a goalkeeper.

Wright commenced his professional club football career at Ipswich Town in 1995 and played for them until 2001, featuring in 240 league matches. He established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in England and was signed by Arsenal in 2001.

A year later Wright moved to Arsenal but after making 12 appearances in the Premier League, he moved to Everton. He was on the books of the Toffees until 2007 and joined West Ham United thereafter, only to move to Southampton on loan in 2008.

In the same year Wright moved back to Ipswich and established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper, playing in 58 league matches. He moved to Sheffield United in 2010 and after one season returned to Ipswich, only to joined Preston North End in 2012.

In the summer of 2012 Manchester City signed Wright on a free transfer on a one-year contract as a backup to Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon o.

Wright made his international debut for England against Malta in a friendly international in 2000. He was part of the Three Lions’ England squad for Euro 2000 and played his second match for his country against the Netherlands in 2001. Wright has not played for England since then.
