Romain Amalfitano is a French football player who currently features for the Premier League club Newcastle United. He plays as an attacking midfielder.
Amalfitano commenced his professional club football career at Evian TG in France and played for them for one season in 2009-10. He played for them in the Championnat National, where Evian finished as champions.
Then in the summer of 2010 Amalfitano signed a two-year contract with Reims and quickly became an important player for them, scoring six goals in 56 league matches. He helped Reims finish 10th in Ligue 2 in 2010-11 and second in 2011-12, earning a promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2012-13 campaign.
However, that summer Amalfitano chose not to renew his contract with Reims and joined Newcastle United on a free transfer on a three-year contract. However, he has struggled to make much of an impact at St James’ Park so far.
