Kleber de Carvalho
A professional football player from Brazil, Kleber de Carvalho Correa plays as a defender in the left-back position. Kleber began his playing career at the Corinthians youth academy, in 1997-98. He broke into the first team in 1998 and instantly sealed his place in the first team. Over the next five years, this talented player made over 260 appearances for the club, winning the Serie A title twice in 1998 and 1999.
He also led the team to the 2002 Copa do Brasil and the Rio-Sao Paulo tournament that same year. In 1999, 2001 and 2003, Kleber helped the Corinthians win the Campeonato Paulista titles and also helped the team win the 2000 FIFA World Club Championships.
In 2003-04, he moved to Germany and signed up with Hannover 96. After 23 games, Hannover decided to sell Kleber off to FC Basel in Switzerland. Kleber played 30 games for Basel and helped them win the 2004-05 Swiss league title before being sent out on loan to Santos. After spending the remainder of 2005 at the Brazilian club, and playing 15 games, Kleber had impressed his team enough to earn a permanent move.
In 2006, he signed with Santos and immediately helped the team win two back-to-back Campeonato Paulista titles in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, after over 165 games for the club and 14 goals, Kleber moved to Internacional.
Again a regular started with the team, Kleber was instrumental in Internacional winning the 2009, 2011 and 2012 Campeonato Gaucho titles as well as the 2010 Copa Libertadores and the 2011 Recopa Sudamericana. He has made over 185 appearances for the team, scoring 12 goals.
At the international level, Kleber has been a part of the national team when other players aren’t around. He has played over 20 games for the national side, winning the 2007 Copa America title, the 2009 Confederations’ Cup title and the 2011 Superclasicos de las Americas title.
He won the Brazilian Serie A Silver Ball award in 2006, 2007 and 2009, but fails to find a regular place in the first team due to the presence of Real Madrid left-back, Marcelo.
