Daniel Alberto “Cata” Diaz is an Argentina international footballer who currently features for the Spanish club Atletico Madrid. He is a versatile defender who can feature as a centre-back, right-back or a wing-back.
Diaz made his footballing debut in 2000 with Rosario Central and played for them for three seasons and made close to 100 league matches for them before modestly successful stints with Cruz Azul and Colon de Santa Fe.
Diaz then moved to Argentine giants Boca Juniors and was a massive influence in their 2005 Apertura winning campaign. He was signed by Getafe in the summer of 2007 for 4 million euros.

Diaz was impressive for the Madrid club in the subsequent five years, as he made 165 league appearances and scored three goals.
In June 2012 Atletico signed Diaz from Getafe for €1 million on a two-year contract.
Daniel Diaz made his international debut for Argentina in 2003 and was part of the Argentine squad for Copa America 2007.
