Franco Niell is a professional Argentine football player who plays as a striker. Niell began his playing career at the youth academy at San Lorenzo de Almagro. In 2001, Niell was picked up by the scouts at the famous Argentinos Juniors football academy and this tiny little striker was considered as a huge prospect for the future. At the age of 21, Niell made his first team debut for Argentinos Juniors, scoring a goal on his debut as well.

After making his debut, Niell was mainly used as a substitute by the team and the lack of playing time forced him to consider a loan move. First, Niell moved to the United States and signed up with DC United in 2008. After just 7 games, Niell moved back to Argentina and signed with Gimnasia de la Plata. Over 2008-09, he played around 31 games for the team, scoring 6 goals before returning to Argentinos Juniors.

His substitute appearances continued for Argentinos Juniors and he even managed to get a few starts but by the time 2011 came around, Niell had no place in the team and went on another loan move to Queretaro FC in Mexico. He spent the entire year at Queretaro, playing 17 games and scoring three goals before signing up with Figueirense in Brazil for the 2012 season.
