Julio Cesar da Silva e Souza is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a midfielder on the left flank. Julio began his playing career at Fluminense, in 1997, after rising up through their youth team. He worked his way into the first team but was reserved for the state league and cup games, making just 8 league appearances during his 6 years at the club. He would win the 2002 Campeonato Carioca title in his final season at Fluminense, before moving out to Russia.
Julio signed with Lokomotiv Moskov in Russia, for the 2002-03 season and played 20 games with four goals to his name. He helped Lokomotiv win the 2002 Russia league title as well as the 2003 Super Cup, before moving to Estrela da Amadora for 2003-04. A regular at this Brazilian team, Julio played over 55 games in two seasons, scoring 11 goals on the way to picking up a transfer to Gil Vicente Futebol Clube in Portugal.
2004-05 wasn’t a great time for the player as he played just 16 games and scored 2 goals before moving out to AEK Athens. Over the next four seasons, Julio would become a regular starting member of the first team at the club, scoring 35 goals in about 90-odd appearances for the first team. This performance caught the eye of Rapid Bucaresti who signed him up as their most expensive player of the squad.

However, Julio had a nightmare time in Romania, playing just 15 games and scoring twice before being sold off to Turkish side Gaziantepspor. Julio sent three seasons at the Turkish club, playing almost 50 league games in that time and scoring 16 goals for his team. However, he wanted more playing time and there was only one way to get it – move back to Brazil and so he did. In 2011, Julio signed up with Figueirense and since signing with the team, has played 22 games and scored 11 goals for the first team.
