Maicosuel Reginaldo de Matos is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a midfielder. Matos began his professional career in the youth ranks of Guarani Futebol Clube in 1998. After three seasons with the team, he moved to Atletica Internacional for another year, before getting into a professional team. His first opportunity to play professional football would come with Clube Atletico Sorocaba, in 2001.

For four seasons, Matos would stay on the sidelines, trying to work his way into the first team. Although he was involved in a number of cup games, he never made an appearance in the league. However, his cup performances were good enough to bring him to Parana Clube, where he would become a first team regular. Playing over 45 games in 2 seasons, Matos scored 4 goals and caught the eye of Cruzeiro in the process. The player who had helped Parana win the Parana State League title, in 2005, would go on to help Cruzeiro win the Minas Gerais State League in 2008.

Cruzeiro bought his services for 2007-08 but Matos would not play the entire season with the team. He moved to Palmeiras, on loan, in 2008, playing 13 games and scoring twice. In 2009, he went on another loan move to Botafogo but was recalled without playing a single game. By this time, Matos’ rights had been bought over by Traffic Sports, an investor group who worked towards getting him out to Europe.

They succeeded in securing a deal to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, in Germany, the main cause for his no-show with Botafogo. However, 20 games and three goals later, Matos was back in Brazil and signing a contract with Botafogo for the 2010 season. He has struggled to get into the first team in the league and has managed only 13 games, mostly as a substitute.
