A fantastic talent and an excellent attacking midfielder, Daniel da Silva Carvalho is all about playing the beautiful game with style and skill. Known for wonderful slalom runs and brilliant dribbling skills, Carvalho began his playing career at Esporte Clube Internacional, in the youth academy. He broke into the first team in 2001 and his skill was always there to see.

Over the next two seasons, Carvalho played regularly for the first team, notching up 66 appearances and 7 goals in the process.

He moved to CSKA Moskov in 2003, and began his rise to stardom. In 2005, Carvalho was named as the Russian Footballer of the Year, becoming the first foreign player to be given the honour. He helped the team win the 2005 UEFA Cup final, the 2005 Russian Premier League title as well as the 2005 Russian Cup. Along with these, Carvalho was also instrumental in helping CSKA to the Russian Cup titles in 2004, 2006 and 2009.

He also led the team to the 2004, 2006 and 2007 Parlament Russian Super Cup title, before returning to Internacional on a loan spell in 2008. The titles didn't end there because Carvalho helped Internacional win the 2008 Copa Sudamericana title. In 2010, CSKA sent him out on loan to Al-Arabi before he was sold off to Atletico Mineiro.

Returning to the country of his birth, Carvalho is a key member of the first team at Atletico Mineiro. At the international level, Carvalho was part of the Brazilian Under-23 national team that won the FIFA World Youth Championships in 2003. He has also earned three senior caps with Brazil, scoring one goal as well.
