Leandro Castan da Silva is a professional football player from Brazil who plays as a defender. Castan began his playing career at the youth ranks of Atletico Mineiro, in 2003-04. He moved through the ranks and made his first team debut in 2005, instantly making an impact despite his young age. Over the next two seasons, Castan played just 22 games for Atletico Mineiro but impressed enough, on his way to helping Atletico win the Serie B title, to get a call from the European scene with Helsingborg signing him up for 2007. Over the two seasons, Castan would spend most of his European stint in Brazil, with a loan move to Gremio Barueri dominating the 2008 calendar.

His European stint saw him just play 5 league games and a few in the cup, but it wasn’t enough to keep him there on an extended contract. In 2009, he returned to Brazil and signed with Gremio Barueri for a single season. A regular member of the starting line-up, Castan played 31 times and caught the eye of the Corinthians, who brought him in, in 2010. Since 2010, Castan has been regularly turning out for the team, winning the Serie A title with them in 2011.
