A professional football player from Brazil, Luiz Marcelo Morais dos Reis, or Lulinha, plays as a midfielder. Rated quite highly from his youth days, Lulinha made his entry into the world of serious football in 1998, when he was just 8-years old. Signed up and placed in the Corinthian’s youth academy. For the next nine seasons, Lulinha would spend days and nights preparing for his entry into the professional world, a dream that would come through in 2007.
Having already helped the junior team win the 2006 Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior title, and having scored 15 goals in 10 Under-17 appearances for the Brazilian national team, Lulinha’s popularity grew and he immediately won a regular place in the Corinthian’s starting line-up.
After helping Brazil win the 2007 South American Under-17 Championships, he went on to win the 2008 Brazilian Serie B title with the Corinthians and, then, the Sao Paulo State League as well as the Copa do Brasil, both in 2009.
After 48 games and four goals for the first team squad, Lulinha was loaned out to Estoril Praia in 2009. Over the next season, he played just over 25 games and scored four times to establish himself as one of the biggest upcoming players in the world. Still just 20, Lulinha was being sought out by massive clubs in Europe, but he stayed on in Brazil and went on another loan spell, to Olhanense, in 2010-11. After a slight dip in form kept him from playing regularly, Lulinha moved to Esporte Clube Bahia for the 2011-12 season.
All his loan moves have had him play rather regularly although his performance has hardly been at the same level as it was when he was at the Corinthians. Lulinha continues to be a huge prospect for the future.
